The Reynolds Directors

Ms. Taylor, Director of Bands

Loren Taylor is the Director of Bands at Reynolds Middle School, where ensembles consistently earn superior ratings at UIL Concert and Sight-Reading and area festivals. Under her leadership, the Reynolds Wind Ensemble has received national recognition, including acceptance to the 2026 Music for All National Concert Band Festival. The ensemble was named a Commended Winner in the 2024 Mark of Excellence National Wind Band Honors and for the first time in school history, the band was named a National Winner in 2025.

Prior to joining Reynolds, Ms. Taylor served as Director of Bands at Highland Park Middle School in Dallas, TX. During her tenure in HP, Ms. Taylor’s bands earned National and Commended Winner titles through the Mark of Excellence National Wind Band Honors and each year, 60 of her students were selected for the TMEA Region 20 All-Region Bands.

Ms. Taylor graduated Cum Laude from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Music in instrumental education and a Flute Performance Certificate. At USC, Ms. Taylor was a member of several ensembles, including the Wind Ensemble, with whom she performed in a concert tour in China.

Her professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association and the Texas Bandmasters Association.

Mr. Dann, Assistant Director

Dylan Dann is an Assistant Band Director at Reynolds Middle School in Prosper ISD. Mr. Dann teaches beginning trumpet, french horn, tuba, and directs the Symphonic Band.

Mr. Dann’s students receive consistent Sweepstakes Awards at UIL Concert and Sight-Reading. Under his direction, the Reynolds Symphonic Band was named a 2024 Citation Winner from the Foundation for Music Education’s National WindBand Honors Project. The Reynolds jazz band was also a TMEA invited ensemble. Prior to joining the Reynolds Band team, Mr. Dann was an Assistant Band Director in Spring Branch ISD and Clear Creek ISD in Houston, TX.

Mr. Dann received his Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from the University of Houston, Moores School of Music. At the University of Houston, Mr. Dann’s primary teachers were Mr. John Benzer, Mr. Jim Vassallo, and Mr. Mark Hughes.

At the University of Houston Mr. Dann performed in the Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, and The Spirit of Houston Marching Band on the trumpet. Mr. Dann also performed with the Houston-based contemporary classical music ensemble Musiqa and was a member of the Santa Clara Vanguard. His professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association and the Texas Bandmasters Association.

Mr. Bassham, Assistant Director

Ian Bassham is an Assistant Band Director at Reynolds Middle School, where he is in his 4th year of teaching. Mr. Bassham teaches the beginning saxophone, euphonium, and trombone classes, as well as Concert Band and Jazz Band.

Mr. Bassham graduated from the University of Houston in December 2021. While at the University of Houston, Mr. Bassham studied saxophone with Mr. Dann Gelok and Dr. Woody Witt. He was a member of the Moores School of Music Wind Ensemble, Jazz Orchestra, and held leadership positions in The Spirit of Houston marching band. Mr. Bassham’s professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association, the Texas Bandmasters Association, and Kappa Kappa Psi.

Mr. Bassham is a native of the DFW area and a proud graduate of Haltom High School. He is thankful for the amazing teachers and mentors he has had throughout his band career.

Mr. Pedone, Percussion 

Spencer Pedone is an educator and percussionist based in the Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) area of Texas. He holds bachelor's degrees from the University of North Texas (UNT) in Percussion Performance and Instrumental Music Education, along with a minor in Music Theory. While at UNT, Mr. Pedone studied under renowned educators including Mark Ford, Paul Rennick, Sandi Rennick, Dave Hall, Christopher Dean and Michael Crawford.

Originally from San Diego, CA, he began his academic journey at Palomar College where he served as a teaching assistant and tutor for music theory and aural skills. During that time, he also held the role of principal percussionist with the Palomar Symphony Orchestra and worked as a freelance and session musician, performing on drum set and keyboard throughout the San Diego and San Marcos areas.

In the area of marching arts, he has performed with Pacific Crest Drum and Bugle Corps and Pulse Percussion. As an educator, he has worked with Gold Drum and Bugle Corps, the UNT Green Brigade, Great Oak High School, Eaton High School and currently serves as the front ensemble caption head at Pacific Crest.
